Drop Of Water

by Erick Neal   Sep 10, 2013

The drop of water fell from the sky
Passing through the clouds,
it barely missed hitting a limb of a tree.
Finally it broke its form onto a petal.
A rose petal, dried out from the sun.
It ignited the rose into opening up.
Showing the beauty, giving life to the rose.

This drop of water was not a normal rain drop.
Although it started the storm.
Free falling to the earth, to give it life.
This rain drop was actually a teardrop.
A tear drop from an angel.
The angel, a lonely one,
was known as the Angel of Death.

The Angel of Death was looking down.
Down at a grave of a young boy.
The young boy lived life of pain.
He couldn't take another hit.
His father finally broke his spirit.
The Angel wanted to protect him.
Even an angel cannot stop a bullet.

If only the town knew before the tragedy.
They could have stopped the abuse.
The boy wouldn't have had to choose.
There wouldn't be a teardrop.
This funeral wouldn't have to happen.

Looking down next to my shoe,
a beautiful rose is just opening up.
Picking it from the ground,
I lay it on his grave.
Saying goodbye to my young friend.
As I leave the funeral to get out of the rain.
