I Blame Society

by Mark Rawlins   Sep 13, 2013

Please allow me to introduce myself,
Society is my name.
I've been around for many a year,
I'm the one who always takes the blame.
I'm blamed for the recession,
I'm why the economy has crashed.
I took the blame in Manchester
when the shop windows were smashed.
I took the blame in London,
when the suicide bombers came.
I took the blame in Derby
when the house went up in flames.
I was blamed when a young girl's body was found
lying in a ditch.
I took the blame at Hillsborough
when they were dying on the pitch.
I was blamed for Jimmy Savile
when everybody knew.
And when you cannot travel
alone at night, I'm blamed by you.
I'm blamed for all the muggings,
I'm blamed for all the fights.
I'm blamed when you let your governments
take away your rights.
I'm blamed because you're racist.
I'm blamed because you drink.
I'm blamed in your court cases,
and because you cannot think.
So if you meet me, have some sympathy,
and remember this one too,
that although my name's Society,
my other name is ... you!

I'm not really fan of the ending but there's some truth in it. But yeah, I'm part of society. I'm not society as a whole, but am an individual who in addition with other individuals make society.

Anywho, I like poem, it reads smoothly. It comes off like a sem-rant. But a good read.
