I'd like to say you weren't worth it
But it'd be a lie
I still think about you
The angry, hate filled sex
That said "I love you, but can't stand you"
The innocence I found in your deceit
---
This is true with most first relationships, that I've seen... Not that I've seen or experienced many...
Very expressive stanza
---
I found comfort in your truth
That you loved, but it wasn't enough
Shackled by youth and curiosity
Maybe we always wanted to fail
Even on the whisper of forever
Our hearts fell silent
---
"I found comfort in your truth"
This is my favourite line of the poem,
Here it seems like the poem softens a bit.
---
I'd like to be hurt
But in truth I saw it coming
I inspired, you conspired
We were both guilty
We were both punished
We drank it down like poison
---
The first line confused me a bit, because you say that you'd like to be hurt and then say but you saw it coming? But it's very emotional.
---
We killed love
Indulged our lust on its corpse
And fed what was left to the night
Neither will ever be the same
And maybe that's a good thing
---
This is by far the best, most descriptive stanza! Couldn't of given a better ending to it!
