Burning Light

by Daylight Lucidity   Sep 24, 2013

Give me strength through mere touch,
Darling,
Wipe away the tears that shed as you turn your face,
A fragile heart I do possess,
That cringes at the brink of day.

Bless my strained ears with the soothing lullaby
That is your words,
My dearly beloved;
Kiss my hands, they cradle my soul,
A bowl that houses the shattered remains.

Search my eyes, see how they puff and burn red,
A breakdown triggered by the loneliness.
Glance at the mirror in my room, witness the scarring on my knuckles,
See the cracks in more than the surface.

Can you not see how I yearn to tell you,
Lovely,
Of the shadows who mock me; my arms
Itching to pull you close and bury
The heartache with the burning light that
Is your love.
