When You're about to Jump

by corinereyes   Sep 24, 2013

It was a snowy night, the path is dark,
A shaded light from a lamppost,
I saw you standing at the edge of Millau .
You were weeping, a sign of a tormented heart?

As your eyes yowl for help, I reached out my hand.
You stared at me for a while,
There were tears falling.
When it reaches your cheeks, it became ice.

A spear in my chest was felt,
As I saw your lonely face,
Is there something wrong?" I murmured.
There were no voices heard, as you answered with a tight embrace.

You have walked with me far from the edge of Millau,
As we have left the cold and dark place,
You rested and fell asleep.
It was a sad night, a long night.

Sunrise came, my eyes staring at the moist glass window,
I felt like a hero,
Did I save you from taking your own life?
Yes I did, it was because I cared.

Years passed, I came at the exact place,
In the middle of Millau,
Looking down, a whirlpool, deep and daunting.
Excruciating pain, crying in vain...

Turned my head before lifting my feet,
I saw you standing near the lamppost.
Please reach out your hand, my mind was whispering,
But you never did.

For hours I stared on the daunting whirlpool,
My tears made up half of that river,
As the sunrise came,
It was then I realized I was a hero to myself.

If I was to return on that day,
If I just could ride a time machine,
I should have pushed you on the edge of Millau.
Or do nothing when you're about to jump.
