Sunrise - Sunset

by Maple Tree   Sep 30, 2013

I was the one who remained alone,
posing as a shadow behind your grave.

We grew comfortable in the silence of
everything we stood for, believed in,

and I can't help but wonder if they
ever really knew you at all.

I could see the sunrise in the iris's
that created you, but all they gazed
upon was the road map of memories
upon your smile.

How lonely I am without your presence,
breathing in the sunset of you....

The meaning within this write holds such an intense sadness. I view this poem in two ways and each one brings a strong feeling of loneliness..as well as pain..touching.
