Sweet Love's Goodbye

by Emily Strickland   Jul 3, 2004

Long Ago There Was A Man
And A Woman So In Love
Their Love Was So Pure And True
One You Could Only Dream Of

One Night He Came Home
And Gave Her A Sweet Surprise
A Dozen Beautiful Roses
Bringing Tears To Her Eyes

One Of Those Is Fake He Said
And Let Me Tell You Why
For It Resembles Our Love
Because Never Will It Die

She Looked A Little Closer
Inside There Was A Note
She Opened Up The Card
And Inside He Had Wrote

These Are To Thank You
For Being In My Life
To Say I Love You Very Much
And Ask That You Be My Wife

She Turns To Him And Says
Yes, Its My Dream Come True
To Know That Im The Woman
Who Will Soon Be Marrying You

He Takes Her By The Hand
And Softly Gives Her A Kiss
Their Love So Tender And Sweet
Nothing Can Compare To This

The Next Day She Gets Ready
Looking At Flowers And Things
Picking Out The Wedding Cake
And Finding The Perfect Rings

Soon The Sun Fades Away
As Darkness Begins To Fall
He Still Has Not Returned Home
Neither Has He Gave Her A Call

She Waits As The Hours Pass By
Wondering Where He Could Be
And When He's Coming Home
Leading Herself Only To Worry

The Telephone Then Rings
As She Rushes To The Phone
Only To Soon Find Out
He Wont Be Coming Home

There Had Been A Terrible Accident
Pronouncing That He Died Instantly
She Just Couldn't Believe It
She Thought How Can This Be

She Walks Up To The Table
As She Slowly Starts To Cry
Looking Through All The Plans
Wondering To Herself Why

She Looks Over At The Roses
Only The Fake One Is There
She Reads The Note Again
It Brings Hurt She Can Not Bear

This Wasnt Supposed To Happen
She Just Doesn't Understand
She Takes Out That Last Rose
Gently Holding It In Her Hand

He Was Her Whole Life
Her First And Only True Love
And Now He's No Longer With Her
He's Somewhere Up Above

That Day She Made A Promise
That He'd Always Be In Her Heart
Never Would She Forget Him
Even Though They Were Apart

A Few Years Have Now Passed
As She Stands Over His Grave
She's Learned To Move On
And Still Be Strong And Brave

Inside She Holds Their Memories
While Still Missing Him So Much
Wishing She Could Just Go Back
And Feel His Gentle Touch

Even Though The Time Goes By
She Will Forget Him Never
He Still Lives On Inside Her Heart
And Thats Where He'll Stay Forever

Omg! Emily that is soooo amazing..it's so sad, it reaches deep inside and brings out the emotions not all people always feel. I could picture every part of it in my head and I have to say it was incredibly amazing. Awesome work!! I give it a by far deserved 5!!!
