Quietness looms comforting my wounded soul
Silence for even just a second - cherished
Just for a moment let the world fade out
Focus on your breathing... inhale exhale
repeating without effort, your body minds its own
what would become without you
Pause for just a little while
Stay with us just a while longer
I know you want to leave but...
Couldn't you just stay with me
In the quiet... inhale exhale
press into me one more time
embrace all my imperfections
for old time's sake
then you can go, I won't try to stop
what was inevitable in the beginning
Silently watching my heart leave

The winter air nipping at my nose
the coldness wrapping me in winter's embrace
For now it'll do....
I'll make do with chill and ear numbing silence
