When Secrets Escape

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 11, 2013

There is a box that contains my mind,
or is it my mind that contains this box?
I had to create a hiding place for every
secret you made me keep, since I
was old enough to speak. So many years
have passed and now this box is filled
with your dirty secrets that I no longer want.

This box of guilt and shame, that used to
contain my mind, is now being emptied
until there is nothing left to hide. I will feel
the weight being lifted, each secret at a time,
as I let go of everything that I promised
to never tell.

All that will be left, is a box full of freedom,
as I watch these secrets escape. And the big
black box of secrets and lies will soon
belong to you. But you won't need to hide it
like I had to do, because the whole world will
already know what's inside.

Instead, you will have to live forever, with this
box that will soon contain your mind, along
with all the guilt and shame that I am giving
back to you...

...back to where it belongs.

Good for you, babe. This piece really spoke to me, and I just want to hug you and tell you, that you are strong, and you are amazing and this piece shows that strength.

Hugs and love always...this piece really touched me, but I also know it means so much to you too

This is a very interesting poem here saffie. I like how you wrote about just one object the box. But you say this box is your whole life. Like a box fully of old memories inside. You also seem to say that you put your heart into this box and who ever this person is hurt it and now you don't want anything to do with it. Like your past. Every hurt in your past is put into this box from your mind. Thoughts are always bad and good. I like the end of this too. You want to give this person back whatever hurt they caused you and then you can move on. It may take time but you can move on. Great write. :)
