The Cost Of Kindness

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 11, 2013

With one more poem tucked away
inside her pocket, she finds another
place to fall. She used to be so
determined to survive, but it seems
like greater powers are determined
to pull her under.

Through ink and paper, she lets her
heart express its deepest pain; a pain
that she can no longer run from.

The cold blood of empty souls
drowns her rare heart with sorrow
and defeat. She tried to be kind to
everyone, because she thought
kindness didn't cost a thing.

But in the end, it cost her her heart,
as kindness was her weakness. People
learned to take what they wanted for free,
then leave her with a hefty price of heartache.

And she remains somewhere within
this lonely world, with one more poem
tucked away inside her pocket, and sorrow
drowning her heart, as she finds another
place to silently fall.

I am also this person sadly. This is a great write I agree. Everytime we give someone a second chance we do get hurt. It's so hard to be honest with people though. We care so much that we don't want to hurt them. I so get what you are saying. I think we can relate to this. I like the tone and message of this poem though. We care so much that we get hurt. I also like how you write this about yourself or another girl. I think as I said other people will connect to you. So I think that makes for a better write. My favorite line is the one that says in the end it will cost her heart. I think thats very true as well. The heart is very fragile and the first thing to get hurt. This is a very great write though.

I used to be this girl...until I took a year to get myself together. I use to wear my heart on my sleeve, I use to be so kind and forgiving and gave too many second chances..got burned by it all. So I totally get this write.and there's almost not much to say about it besides sometimes kindness is our biggest down fall.

    Lovely write saffie
