Spoon.

by Poet on the Piano   Oct 14, 2013

Am I but a taste to be savored?
A cacao seed that must be
fermented before loving?

Dish out the truth to me,
in one single scoop,
on a spoon you dug up
from a twentieth century
time capsule.

Don't wash it, don't leave
it in the ice tray to chill.
No, heat it, let it melt

until I am a wanderer
in its pools
and a drizzle of
what life really consumes.

MaryAnne, I am glad to come back and read this, and you made me crave some chocolate ice cream, so thanks!

I wasn't sure if Cacao was meant to be Cocoa but then I did some checking and saw that it was the same thing basically, so...that clears that up for me :)

This was really clever, and I am sure its metaphorical in sense, about allowing yourself to melt and not be frozen forever because you never know when your last drop will be tasted...if that makes sense.
