Poetic Expression

by Siviwe Siretshe   Oct 17, 2013

My brain is shaped in stanzas
Composed to mark an end to mental slavery
Slaving away for a very small allowance of money
My mind brings slavery thinking down to ruin
For my brain is the mine of wisdom

My eyes see an exaggerated account of life
I see a man as a divine figure of authority
A humble image of God who's patient and slow to quarrel
For his eyes see beyond what the naked eye can see

My ears listen to rhythms of emotional rhymes
They surprisingly embrace ear-splitting sounds
And converts them to rhythms that charms with happiness
As they pay an emotional tribute to sorrows of life

My mouth utters poetic expressions
Expressions that make themselves heard
For they carry you to the world of knowledge
Where you'll choose between wisdom and pride

My soul sings verses of my past life
When I used to lazily stand at the crossroads
With the intention of choosing the road that leads upward to life
But lazily choose the road that leads downward to death
For it seemed smooth and shorter to trudge on

My life is a poetic art of expression
It was sculptured from pleasant words into human figure
Words that made it are matured and persuasive
And it became the fountain of life to the wise
For its expressions are like honey and good for your health
