Our Tulip

by Forever Hers   Oct 17, 2013

Bloom, little tulip, bloom
And see how your beauty
Inspires my heart to beat
While you rest in her grasp,
Ever growing.

I see your stem wrapping
Delicately around our arms
In a gentle embrace
And leaving the taste of home
On lips with our first kiss.

Little dew drops rest on your red petals,
Drawing out the prominence of the color,
A vibrant, strong, reminder of love
That nestles itself betwixt two lovers
Who smile, still, timidly as the time passes.

I watch as her eyes roam over you
In soft awe; her lips twitch upward
In a faint smile and her eyes sparkle
With a playful glint;
A goddess amongst her garden.

Little tulip, our tulip,
In each vein of your leaves
Runs this tender, delicate, and all-consuming love
That we breathe each and every day,
Nothing tainting its gem-like perfection.

I gingerly wrap my fingers around your stem,
My own brushing hers gently and overlapping them
As I pull her closer to embrace her as I do you,
Our beautiful red tulip,
Softly and with a touch only of endless love and care.

    This.

The imagery, the way it is worded... the love is truly shown and felt within every single line of this poem and it is beautiful. I've got no other words.

    Speechless.
