Her Beauty and My Beast

by Forever Hers   Oct 21, 2013

There was a time when I said
That I was foolish
And living in a fantasy
For believing in true love.

My rose had wilted,
The petals dry and crumpled at my feet;
My smile faded into a frown and happiness was killed,
A song once sung in a heart was put to rest and buried deep.

As I became known as a cold beast,
I met that one special, unforgettable girl
Who resurrected that heart's beat
And put light back into a pitch black world.

There was a certain glint in her eye
That caught my attention and put a purpose
In my otherwise useless, empty life
And led me to believe that it was all worth it.

In the eyes of this beast that is me,
I see a girl that is more than just that,
She is the beauty in everything,
And she gave me my belief in true love back.

As I dream of placing a kiss upon her hand,
My mind wanders and leaves me to
Wonder silently whether she sees me as the beast I am
Or if she sees a newly bloomed rose.

A stutter in my reassembled heart sounds
As she whispers that she loves me,
And I am left with treasuring the tale of us;
Her beauty and my beast.

    It is funny, I was working on a poem about the same thing. Ha.

    I love the message of resurrected love and feeling. Also, including the rose is a great add since it is related to the story.
    Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite movies, honestly. Off topic.

    I love it. You paint yourself in a light that seems dull when compared to hers. It must be how you see her; it is how she sees you.

    I like it.
