A low growl escapes through taut lips,
Her eyes burning with a suppressed roaring flame,
As she reads the words over and over again
Before hastily leaving
The house with a harsh slam of the door.
She rushes away, no phone to distract
Her as she wanders in the crisp autumn night,
Her eyes watering as she tries to fight
Away the jealousy that bubbles in her chest.
As she goes downtown,
Men whistle and women stare;
She puts her hands to the sides of her head
To push away the oppressiveness of the emotions
Running wild and controlling her mind.
She takes deep breaths to steady
The shaking of her hands,
A questioning look colors her face
As she realizes the intensity of the feelings.
Jealousy is a powerful, intensely touchy emotion,
One that can be triggered by the smallest, most insignificant thing
And it is one most difficult to ignore
Or try to never feel.
It is painful, it is foolish,
It is angering, and it is awfully cruel.
