Throbbing Ache

by Forever Hers   Oct 29, 2013

Her eyes roamed over the words on the small screen,
A tale of two lovers told by someone unique,
Leaving her heart, confused by the ache in her chest,
To beat slowly, the faint clink of glass falling from it.
The tears welled rather quickly
Though she fought against them
With all the strength she had stored away
For such a time.
One fell from her eye and onto her desk,
The other glimmering on the brim as she looked away,
Her breath catching in her throat as another fell;
Her hand wiped them before they left burning streaks.
The rest followed and she had to hide her face
From the classroom full of laughing kids, her friends,
In order to prevent more from building in them
Once more; her efforts quick and successful.
She took a deep breath to calm herself,
The ache still throbbing, the reason undetermined,
As she locked her phone's screen
In an attempt to lock it out of her mind.

The "phone's screen" stole the magic from this poem and threw it out the window, though i like the structure of the whole poem and the way it builds up to something. 5/5
