I closed the door,
I rummaged through the cabinet,
I whimpered when I found
Another razor, brand new, sharp as can be.
I locked them out
And held my arm over the sink,
Taking three deep breaths as I pressed
The sweet, cool metal against my heated skin;
My mind for once at ease.
I looked in the mirror and whispered my goodbye,
My hand pressing into the razor
And dragging it down my shoulder to my forearm,
Smiling faintly as I watched my life
Pour out of me so quick, so smoothly.
I did the same to the other and laid
In the bathtub, my eyes closing in comfort
At the familiar sting of the razor's beautiful kiss
And the fact that I was slipping away.
I left the note on the dining room table
Knowing they'd find it soon;
My eyes forever shut,
Permanently locking then out.
