Unscrupulous

by Jenni Marie   Nov 4, 2013

I'm the fox in the shed, the wolf in
sheep's clothing, the prime minister
who claims his actions are for the
greater good. Guileful and fraudulent
in such an artistical manner.

I can twist that knife within your ribcage
whilst I have a smile plastered upon my
face and ask if there's anything I can do
to help ease your suffering.

I can wriggle my way out of almost anything
with a smile or two, a well placed word
here and there and all the while my mind
is working overtime plotting your defeat.

I'm the type of person that Schadenfreude
was phrased for. Look in the dictionary
and you'll see my picture next to the
definition of unscrupulous.

I'm the type of person that will
blow hot and cold yet you'll never know
if I'm spinning another fairytale.

This poem really made me smile and laugh because of the meaning behind it. I loved the vocabulary you used in spots because it adds so much to this and I don't think it takes away from the story or flow of the poem. The use of schadenfreude made me smile because I have never seen it used in a poem. Well done for that. Now the poem itself has a pretty dark deeper meaning and I loved the imagery you used to enhance everything. I think the meaning is simple. I may seem like a good person but deep down inside I will use you to get what I want. Lol. I loved how you didn't really use a "character" per se you just used I and you. That makes the readers mind run wild. At least it did for me. :). I loved the story of it in a way. Though the ending wraps it up greatly which is why I loved it. It pretty much says I can be good or bad and you will never know who I really am. I liked that because I think a lot of people hide their "true" selves to keep from getting hurt. You twisted this though and made it see the darkside oof a certain person. Great write.

Just my opinion, but I feel like this was one of your best writes!

The beginning was awesome with the examples as they were unique and contrasted the other. I was quite surprised by the German word, had to google that but then found that it means one who takes pleasure in watching others fail or get hurt. Your word choice as Nana pointed out is breathtaking, powerful, and placed so well (as you promised in your poem too). What an entry for the challenge! Will definitely watch out for you haha

It's been a busy year, I kind of stopped writing, but for poetry, it's kind of something I m really passionate about. IF I am not to write, I am no bet to read..
So I sign in here, and nothing have lately impressed me..well some did, but not to the extent to make me write a comment.

this is really amazing, I have no idea what the contest my sweet chels's contest is about...since ive not been up to date but whatever the main aim is, I do feel like this poem aced the requirements.

I am a bit blown away with the word usage and thoughts u got me thinking of..

your ending is quiet superb, it's like a punch on the face! (I donu how a punch in the face feels, and don't wanna.. but u knw..it hurts) hehe
