Unspoken

by Aimee   Nov 6, 2013

Words I've never spoken
Things I've left unsaid
Build their walls around me
In the form of my regret.
Places I've never been
Sights I've left unseen
Haunt me in my nightmares
Of things that could have been.
These hands are scarred and beaten.
Fools who fell to fear.
We lived and lost to hope
Because I feared the cost of dreams.
I'm on the shortest road to nowhere
Hiding that I care
But where I once stood tall
Now stands strong my remorse.
Insecure but chains hold tight
How I wish I'd dared to fight.
What I know destroys me,
keeps me safe
but without life.
