Wow, I love this. Potent and yet amazing. Left me in thought and gave a very clear image. I love your writing style and this, this is amazing. Fanatastic. For a challenge this seems so simple and flows so perfectly.

Arrrgghhh. You always make it look so easy! I thought no way will she manage something good this time because your prompts were quite challenging... but I should have known better that you would still create something like this. Well done!

I like how you portrayed the fear, and the eeriness that you are alone and yet something is lingering around you. The footsteps were almost in my ears, I could hear them clearly. I also like how you added the dog, I imagined this to be a stray dog alone in the city and terrified of the noises around it, and the darkness of the night.

    Excellent job, well done.. again.

This brought me back to the times when my sister and I waited till night time to watch horror movies. For some reason they are more eerie when we watched them during the night.

Though, what I like the most about this poem were the title "Uploading" and the visual punch found in each stanza.

The first one made me think of a kitchen. I think it's just because of "sour milk infecting my mouth." But then I'm transported into the ruins of pompeii. I'm seeing this dog walking hurriedly with shorts steps as if trying to be unnoticed. I think the dog was hungry and lonely, so he was looking for something to eat and found the milk which he didn't like of course, it was too sour.

Then on the second stanza, I'm feeling the anxiety.. The dog is alone in the dark in the middle of the ruins just scurrying his way... but "my door begins to creak" ... So For some reason I think is not a dog. It will actually be a person who is narrating the story.

So it led me to believe the poem is being narrated by someone who is scared and who is uploading a memory. Perhaps, that's how that someone felt when they were in the ruins of Pompeii? And the night is making him/her remember it. Or that someone is watching a horror movie and seen the dog, he/she is too scared that he/she can't keep his eyes open but is curious to continue watching so he/she opens and closes his eyes.

    WEll done.

Wow, what a piece this is. It's dark but captivating and the images it brings to mind of the fear and vulnerability we show during times of distress are strong.

Love the use of Pompeii in this. :)
    Great write as always MA
