First- When we look into a mirror we see something that rwally isn't us a lot of the time. So I like the us of sadness. Through out this whole stanza you radiate a real life scene that plays out nicely inside the imagery in my head. I love the raw emotion you write about. The words hot the reader very hard. Which always makes it better. Do you believe what you own mouth says. That is up to you to believe. I like the personality you give to this. The inner dialogue is fantastic as well.
Second- The second stanza really brings out a heavy issue. The abuse of the person you write about and the tears you weep. I love the word weep as well. It's very clever. And tells me you have been crying for a while. I love the line that shatters you. it seems like the mirror is shattered inside your soul and through the mirror you are looking on your inside. You are more hurt inside than out.
Third- I loved the wording in the end. Again you don't see yourself as you but as someone who is broken and shattered. We all go through this I think. I loved it overall because of the strong message you said. You are stronger than you know and there is always hope to heal. Excellent
You have a knack for writing poetry with questions. You can fill the entire poem with questions yet still tell a story filled with imagery and emotion.
Beginning: You are observing yourself in the mirror, crying once again while taking inventory of all the bruises this person has inflicted upon you. You repeatedly ask yourself why you put up this this and how many more times are you going to believe lame excuses before you find the courage to walk out the door and leave.
Middle: You're replaying the incidents in your mind, it haunts you. You think of his fists pounding on you. You deal with it in reality but also you deal with it haunting you even when this person isn't around.
I like the use of shattering soul in with the mirror. It relates well because I can see you getting so upset at your reflection, at this person, etc... that you end up breaking the mirror.
Ending: You realize that the weeping reflection is you. Sometimes when in these situations, we lose ourselves. You don't recognize yourself because you always told yourself you wouldn't be done this way, you wouldn't tolerate abuse on any level, you would just walk away. However, sometimes love makes us put up with stuff we never thought we would. We get it in our minds that it was an accident, never again will it happen... but then it becomes a routine and it just spirals out of control to the point that you just don't recognize who you are anymore.
