Temporary Home

by Hannah Lizette   Dec 11, 2013

The wind howls louder than
wolves during a hunger moon,

rain tiptoes across an owl's brow
as he bellows Mayday in the thick of
murmuring branchlets.

Treetops quiver as he soars
towards his homestead in hopes
that hollowed walls can withstand
Mother Nature's sighs.

Midflight, droplets become torpedoes;
with squinted eyes, he sees her
pounding on his front door -

before he can hoot, "Timber!"
his home plummets into his
neighbors bungalow,
creating a domino effect across
the forest floor.

Quietly,
he switches to autopilot,
on the road again in search
of another temporary home.

    by Beautiful Soul

Every time I read a nature poem it makes my heart flutter because people can make them such full of imagery. This one did not disappoint me at all. Here I can feel nature all around me and I can feel peace within this. I see this at night on a cold and rainy time with the use of moon and the owl. I also loved how youbuild up fto it. You make the owl a main character but you don't really know it until the end. It's sad though I think that the owl has to find a new home but sometimes you have to change. I also love how you gave nature a voice with each line you write. Beautiful overall. :) well done to you!
