Poem to Ponder

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 23, 2013

Thus an unknown poet went to wander
recovering slowly from a broken heart
A mind has many things to ponder
In the days in which I grew fonder
Nightmares often pull the cart
Thus an unknownpoet went to wander
While wild imagination soars like a condor,
When love and lover are torn apart,
A mind has many things to ponder
The divine love that was so close seemed out yonder
Cupids arrow often like a poison tipped dart
Thus an unknown poet went to wander
There was only pain for the lonely responder
When a one sided romance is doomed from the start
A mind has many things to ponder
The muse is the master, writing the poem is an art
We find a flame when there is time to squander
Thus an unknown poet went to wander
A mind has many things to ponder
