Patience - (song with recording)

by Maher   Dec 25, 2013

A cold white bloom resides on a mountain top
Disowned by everything
On the peak, she lay distilled
By a voice that's fading
Far away, there burned a light
Somewhere in the night sky
"If only I could be so high"
She smiled as it slipped by

Oh, drift away
Far beyond the white light
Oh, won't you stay?
If only for a little while

The time has come to head on home
But I don't wanna go now
If you think I'll carry on
I tell you, I won't know how
Could you wait for me?
Please one more day?
And I'll be burning just like you

So she made her way alone
To discover what it feels like
To have a flame to call her own
So that someday she can burn bright
Carved her way through frozen lakes
Through the mountains and the alpines
'Till she reached the sand and the sun
And waved goodbye to what she left behind

Oh, drift away
far beyond that white light
Oh, won't you stay?
If only for a little while

The time has come to head on home
But I'm already home now
So you think I'll carry on?
Well I'll tell you I can try now
Would you wait for me?
Just one more day?
So I can shine along with you

Some background to this song:

I wrote this song for someone I know who has patience well beyond my own. She has been through hell and back and is the most beautiful thing in the world. Of all the songs I've written, this is the most beautiful and it won't even hold a spark to the bright star that she is. Thank you for showing me what patience is :)

A cold white bloom resides on a mountain top
    Disowned by everything
On the peak, she lay distilled
    By a voice that's fading
Far away, there burned a light
    Somewhere in the night sky
"If only I could be so high"
She smiled as it slipped by
    - The beginning of this poem/song is really metaphorically detailed. I love the description of the 'cold white bloom' snow on the top of the mountain, she lay atop it, perhaps in some way she is the Queen of your world atop the mountain you have placed her so high.. Nevertheless I can envision the words playing out and the image in my head.

    Oh, drift away
    Far beyond the white light
    Oh, won't you stay?
If only for a little while
    - This makes me wonder and think that maybe that light shining down upon the mountain is Heavens guiding light. Pleading she stays, even if it's just for a little while..

The time has come to head on home
But I don't wanna go now
If you think I'll carry on
    I tell you, I won't know how
    Could you wait for me?
    Please one more day?
And I'll be burning just like you
    - This stanza is powerful.. It really hit me with an emotional punch. I can relate in some way, having to face my way back home but pleading to stay, to have them wait.. But it seems no matter what it won't go that way.

So she made her way alone
To discover what it feels like
To have a flame to call her own
So that someday she can burn bright
Carved her way through frozen lakes
Through the mountains and the alpines
'Till she reached the sand and the sun
And waved goodbye to what she left behind
    - "Carved her way through frozen lakes
Through the mountains and the alpines
'Till she reached the sand and the sun"
That part of this stanza a vivid masterpiece playing out within my head. I can see the journey she has had to face, alone... The trial and errors are long and you play it out so well on this piece, I can even feel possibly what she's going through. A struggle real, deep, and true and at last the sun shines against her and the light picks her up giving her warmth against the cold white bloom.

    Oh, drift away
    far beyond that white light
    Oh, won't you stay?
If only for a little while
    - Again pleading but almost like you both have had to leave and this plea will go unnoticed due to the journey between you two.

The time has come to head on home
    But I'm already home now
So you think I'll carry on?
Well I'll tell you I can try now
    Would you wait for me?
    Just one more day?
So I can shine along with you
    - Beautiful, I am not sure if I have gathered your feelings from this piece correctly but this is a grand write full of beauty and love. It oozes out of the words and the stanza's are stringed together so well. I can relate in some ways.
