Life

by Gwen Davis   Dec 26, 2013

The smell of grass, a baby cryin',
A car moving by you fast,
Kids jumpin' rope, fools smokin' dope,
The sound of a shotguns blast.

A doorbell ringing, birds outside singing
The smell of honeydew.
Dogs loudly barking, raindrops falling,
The sight of something new.

A kiss, a hug, a push, a shove,
Your eyes when black and blue.
A door closin', some glass broken,
The fill of love once knew.

Slow walks on the beach, white sand on
Your feet, soft wind upon your face.
Stars in the sky, mountains so high,
Who made this mysterious place?

The air we breathe, the sights we see,
Are all meant to be, I guess.
Locked down and shackled,
Hands tied, I'm baffled,
How did life turn into mess?

Tear drops fallin', the sounds of sobbin',
Please help me brace this fall.
Life, what's it meaning, help me I'm pleading,
Help me once more stand tall.

I loved the imagery you have here. Each stanza it seems like holds something you saw or did or heard throughout your whole life. Very beautiful overall here. I can imagine everything you said here which makes for a greater poem. I love the title it's very simple but holds a lot of meaning. You did well to use it in the poem as well. Well done.
