I don't, I won't, believe in you

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 5, 2014

Dear Secret,

I won't let you consume me. I will voice you to those who clench a piece of this heart, so they are aware of how you hiss and snarl. You are snow and ice and rain that becomes intimate with me far too frequently...

I will be protected from you.

You will have to learn how to breathe on your own and depend on no one as I learn how to block out your screams. I know I can't always be miles away, for you follow me without dragging chains or muddy feet; and though I hear you rustling within me, I will slowly overpower you, until I act on my disfigured will...

and not yours.

Having secrets linger inside can be overwhelming and it will consume us if we allow to happen. There comes a time when we have to release it no matter what the consequences are in order to move forward in life. Excellent write
