Oblivion Shown

It's such a life to remember,
the white paint all over the pavement
and as we crashed into the future,
our past sang just heartbeats away,
and you swore you were never coming back

Whispers in enochian,
on your ribs were written
and onto your forehead, etched
"abandon all hope, ye who enter here",
for you've always had devils inside your skull

And as your breath hit me, drenched in whiskey and bad ale,
your name floated off the tips of my lips followed by
that "the night is ours for the taking", softly floating by,
that "life is ours for embracing"
imbued with guilt I became, when the silence didn't go away

Soft like rose petals and bad wine buzzing, your skin
Fragile, your smile painted the world pink and purple
dark shades of hedonism and lost causes,
And I loved it, genuinely,
it became a part of my reason for living

But as your breath hit me again, drenched in whiskey and false hope
I thought I'd wait forever,
for your sobriety, the one that never came
for when you'd pick up the pieces of your broken reflection,
but you crushed the mirror instead, under oblivion

Under rebound and too many drinks,
Yeah, too many drinks, I bet you love me now;
now that it doesn't feel like anything can mean anything to anyone anymore,
but your silence flays me, bleeds me,
it ceases rarely, if ever, to kill me

And as disgusted as I am to be a pawn of envy,
My nausea will grant me the vomit of a coward's love
but it'll be many years from now, truly,
Until then, we've got time, dearest,
Fall onto me and I'll show you my oblivion
