A Magnolia And Cinderella's Glass Shoes' Brief Love Affair

by Mahal Ko Kuya Ko   Jan 18, 2014

The soft brown color of your eyes
burn in every word
written in my poetry.
Metaphors become velvet
like the ashes of that forgotten timber
seared beside the infamous writings
cemented in the Paris-like dalliance
of the lighter shade of fuchsia
last Tuesday night.

3:00 AM unicorns find their way
to move musically but never gracefully
with just the heartbeats of your heart
plus the electric bugs of my mind
caused by the temporary lapses
in my memory.

A myriad of hope
beneath your puddled smiles
that still look very pensive to me
always delivers nostalgia--
nostalgia with fragments of lost courage.

Your vanity gave birth to a Magnolia--
a symbol of a hundred year legacy
of a love that was imagined, created,
and brought to life
with the use of Cinderella's glass shoes.

Last Tuesday night,
you never cared about the time...
but when the clock struck 12:00...

everything is lost and gone
where a love affair only lives in fiction.

I like this a lot, with words and imagery that convey the magic and joy of a love affair and then a sense of sadness and loss that its suddenly gone and perhaps imaginary. Very well done.

Your poems are always great to me because of the imagery and personslly you are a great story teller. I loved the spin on a fairytale here. You can always take a simple thing and make it's world come alive. The wording you used here is lovely and I loved the "hinting" words. Like I will pinpoint Unicorn. I think thatcan be rrepresented as beauty. I think what the story is about is about a girl who had an affair but you compare it to a flower. I love when you do this because you always bring out the true meaning to your flowers and pinpoint every detail for them. :). I loved this overall as it shows the strength in your imagery. Well done
