Epidemic Chill

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 20, 2014

And lately it has been so cold outside
that nothing seems to blanket this frosty chill
which is growing colder every day.

Snowflakes fall from the same sky,
yet they land with icy stares and judging
looks to those who differ from them,

(even though they are all unique.)

This shiver travels through my body
until it finds comfort inside my heart;
the only place which seems to have
warmth any more.

And lately it has been so cold outside
that everyone stays indoors,
hoping that one day
the sun will shine upon this frozen world
and blanket this epidemic chill
that is spreading wide
throughout our drifting nations.

Oh Saffie, this poem hit me deep in the heart. I just felt every part of this and it radiated something throughout me.
I just...I hate judgement. People judge what they do not know and I hate it. I hate people whispering, people talking behind your back, saying things about you, because of who you are. It shouldn't be like that but it is and I hate it.

You touched me with your words, and I thank you. Great write.

Love how you started it off, with 'and' and just the rawness within the words, and yet it was smooth and flawless.

I loved how you started this poem out with "and". It really makes me think aabout the poem and if there was anything that happened before. This person feels cold and judged. It seems they think they are different and using snowflakes you feel judged by the others. I think the wording and metaphor is very unique here because it connects so well withhow you are feeling. I always think winter or snow is always great to use with depression and you did great to connect the two. I am in love with the third stanza here. It seems like you are saying the only warmth your heart feels is the chill because you have gotten so used to the judging and coldness from others. Overall I loved this poem because I think everything connects so well and the flow is very smooth. Well done!
