Ember

by Alanis   Jan 25, 2014

I search for you in the wreckage.
I bury you in the deep. My hands
Shake with regret and anger is shielded
Between these wreckless eyes. Feelings
Collide in an out break of wretched emotions.
I wipe away the soot. I wave off the heavy smoke.
The pungent smell of burning flesh retiring to the air
Above. I glance at the faces. I anticipate the sorrow.
Cries of anguish litter the air and tears of pain soil
The ambiguous setting. I lay witness to the dying scene.
I lay waste to the smoking husk of forgotten dreams.
Children carry their hurt to the next embedded location.
Souls consumed in the ember flames cast away like dust
In the wind. Lives washed away like life on the rusty ocean floor. The ambitious set foot on a new journey. The cowardly watch the long winding road that sets itself comfortably between
agonizing and reliable. The faithful rebuild the town but The foolish perish in the spark of a glowing flame.
