A Lonely Valentine's Day

by Joe Eijyuu   Feb 14, 2014

This Valentine's Day I am lonely
As a merman without a mermaid,
Chocolate's abundant and flower's plenty
This year but my only love has evanesced,
Skylarks hover and sing over a field excitedly
In this early spring but not I who is devastated,

Two hearts of ours were intertwined
And made one heart of purest passion,
Alas! Like sand it was broken and sieved
Through our fingers so and vanished anon,
Luckily there are still few sands left in my hand
One from your very heart and another from mine.

I shall cherish these two grains of sand for
Every Valentine's Day to come on this lonely beach,
For one day these grains might propagate in number
So as to bring our one heart of love back from beneath,
Thence, there will be A Lonely Valentine's Day no more
And will we dance on the shore where that mermaid sings.
