She said you're a callow dog,
who, when thrown a rawhide bone,
will chew and chew and chew...
unwilling to give it up to time.
^^ that is a great description couple with image and repetition. I like it thought it sad that anyone would describe someone like that.
She doesn't understand your passions.
How hymns are sacred guests at
your home, as you tend to them
and learn their virtues.
She doesn't understand your depth.
That you were hurt and it was not
spelled out why, so here you are,
still floating under chipped domes
as I proudly watch you sketch out
dreams of painting shamrocks and
murals around the House of God.
^^ this stanza moved me like you have no idea. I re and reread this piece and I make a long stop at that stanza. Not sure why though
But this is definitely a piece that I will find myself re reading. And I'm sorry that you were shocked, the above description of how this someone was described is shocking. But the good thing is that you have seen that girl, so it's a relief that even though you heard whatever it was that you heard, it won't change your views towards this girl which is refreshing. I guess that could be why I find myself enchanted by this piece. Your passion to say this girl isn't what you think is admirable. Also your poem shows the beauty of being around people and seen the truth in their eyes.
