Invisible Disappointment

by Baby Rainbow   Feb 23, 2014

Even with my eyes closed,
I can still see the disappointment
etched upon your face.

(Disappointment that only I can see.)

Shame and guilt creep into my mind
and overrule my heart.
I am breaking inside because I know
I will never be good enough.

When the unthinkable truth escapes my lips,
I know your ears cry at every word,
my pain then becomes your worry....

...and that is not what I want for you.

Because even with my eyes closed,
I will always see the invisible disappointment
on your face, which is staring back at me with love,
and that is something which I can never change.

Yes we all have disappointment in ourselves and here I can see you looking at your own reflection. So you know what you look like but don't like what you see. Even when you close your eyes you imagine everything that is happening inside and on your face. I liked the brackets. You are the only one who can see the inside of yourself. Good or bad. Bad here of course. The heart is a very tough thing to heal. And when you are hurt or disapointed it becomes worse. We never want any pain on ourselves but we judge ourselves very harshly and when other people do as well it's hard to love. The tone of sadness is well used throughout and you wrote this very well.

We all have disappointed ourselves or other or have been disappointed. That is part of life and yes it is something only we can see.
