My yaki

by Yakari Gabriel   Feb 24, 2014

Yaki is healing,
everyday, everyday
she tells herself she's healing.
applies lotion unto her size 10
hips, traces her stretch marks
like one would trace the stars
at night.

my yaki has a very hard time
being emotionally stable.
her highs and her lows often
resemble one those heart rate
machines in a hospital
up and down, up and down
her mood goes

It is now 1:46 am, and my yaki
is awake. feeling vulnerable
and needy. So beautiful her
sadness is, something
that won't leave her.
doesn't betray her
as loyal as a birthmark

my yaki is scared, but brave
sick, but lovely
doesn't give up,
doesn't bow down

won't let depression
sink in too much

my yaki is on her way
to the sun

you'll see her,
and when she smiles
you'll love her.
