Secret Bruises

by Baby Rainbow   Feb 27, 2014

Gazing into the mirror,
her lips smile with familiar approval.
She believes that no one will see
what her make up tries to hide.

But gazing back at her,
the mirror sheds a tear,
for it has seen behind the mask
and knows the world will not be fooled.

A mirror does not lie and yes often we hide behind a mask which I call make up. It makes us feel more secure.

I think for this poem the title is more powerful then the poem. But they both work so well together. The title itself could be "the ending" but it's teally the deeper meaning. Anyways. This girl or women obviously was very hurt by herself or a friend she thought she loved. I did love the double view point though. The first part is about the women herself and the way other people see her. The "smile" is her way of hiding what's inside. The mirror side is the side she see's inside of herself. A heart that is crying for help but no one can hear. This is a powerful short write but its great. :)
