Explode

by Everlasting   Mar 2, 2014

Her head was a race against the clock
speeding thoughts to one o'clock

" the time is up, everyone pencils down."

But after her exam, she still continued thinking
until her brain crashed against undecipherable walls
that made her and her every neuron explode.

"Hey, wake up, wake up..."

------

I was thinking.... Too much thinking may make a head explode.. :/
How true is that?

This was really neat Luce. I like how you take such a common feeling (overwhelmed, nervous from this test) and turn it into something artful. It works for a poem where the reader experiences that moment. The "wake up" part makes me think of going to another class and waking up from the struggle of remembering, of trying to figure out what was done wrong. It follows us.... there are certain tests I think about afterwards, where I circled the right answer, erased it or even when I try to think about how I could have worded my explanation better. Some things are hard to let go and indeed, your brain can feel like exploding! You need to take a break or step away.

Haha indeed! I do exactly the same with my answers. Though, everyone tells me that usually the first choice is the right one. But for the most part, when I have a doubt - usually the first choice is not the correct one. So my brain feels like it explodes. Thank you for your comment!
