Nightmares in the nights

by Everlasting   Mar 6, 2014

Fears are vultures in the nights
soaring thirstily, and hungrily
for deserted irises to land:
To clasp its claws, pierce minds
then eat hearts in pecks
and bites. They soar above skies,
above reason, above thoughts.
They just pray. They pray and prey
for days, for hopeless
carcasses to attack.

Wow. I love the description you used here, the imagery of something flying and then landing inside our eyes! That was powerful, and sometimes it shows how fast we get thoughts and emotions, they just seem to appear.

I also like your word choice of pecks and bites, showing how this thing has no mercy.

And also like your word play on prey, and pray.

    related to this, well done.

    - Clasps, should just be clasp.
