Nothing (to mount to)

by Chelsey   Mar 7, 2014

It's a shame you'll never know what you don't understand.
Personally, I will never know, nor comprehend, why I wasn't

good enough

for you.

Why someone with love (big enough) to call heaven and
forgiveness (wide enough) to call sea, wouldn't be worthy enough-
to call forever.

No one dreams of being a cotton picker, but if that's what it
takes to dig through that dry mouth of yours, to pull, to tug
for words that'd explain all of this, then I can't imagine doing
anything else. Because I need to know.

(Mercy and Grace)

Isn't that what we agreed upon...or was I mistaken?
Because there is neither silence nor negligence that rest
upon mended hearts. But we aren't mended-
Are we?

We are hopeless. We weren't and never will be infinite
because I'm willing to go beyond and you're stuck with
boundaries that you've placed on your much too guarded self.

And the hardest part of finally realizing this, is I'm going to
be alright; you'll be drowning in a limited life, in a pool of
unanswered questions that you aren't even sure of.

But being alright doesn't mean the struggle, the hurt feelings
of wanting to know why, will go away.

Which indefinitely, is the only thing infinite between us.

Beautifully written and laid out. The ending is very effective. Well done.
