Comments : The Feeder of our Souls

Poetry has been around for a very long time and it will be because of people writing down their emotions, darkest secrets and life experiences. We write because at that moment we can't share it with another living soul and putting it on paper gives us comfort and relief. Writing is great therapy and often used by counselors to say what the mouth can't. Very interesting write and I am pretty sure it will give the reader a lot to think about.

Wow, I've never heard this view or thought about poetry needing us, and not the other way around. I always have read and thought about breathing poetry, needing it as a part of daily life. This piece brings a darker tone because poetry seems to crave our surroundings, no matter how horrible or sad or misleading. There were several parts that caught my attention and "pierced" my thoughts here:

    "the soul enraptured within thorns",
giving such a direct metaphor, such an excruciating image to think about stays with the reader.

I do believe poetry always lives, that it never dies, but now you have me thinking, is that our downfall? That we become lost in our tragedies and our words that we perhaps cannot function outside of our thoughts?

I also liked the distinctions, very subtle, that you made between yourself and poetry. It caused me to re-read several times which I appreciate, because it holds a depth I may not be capable of understanding yet.

"And I live no more, until I start
to live once more, but you-
    live and never stop."

    - This made me think of moments, moments where we are brought down, and our spirit is low until we have that motivating factor present in our lives to get us back up. But poetry doesn't have that. It never has the risk of dying or thinking of death maybe.

This was such a well-crafted piece, with twisted meaning and provoking thought. I can only imagine, poetry as an angel without that body, without an solid form. In a way, it's haunting, because we don't know when and how often it "feeds" from us, uses our emotions in ways we may not of done.

I really enjoyed reading this piece, it was a new and captivating poem that I was looking for!

^ I think it can be, that is if we let it. There should always be a balance.

I've never thought of poetry as a kind of parasite but I guess it could be viewed that way.

I like how you have given poetry a persona for you to address and tell it your inner thoughts like it's attached to you (parasitically) but you are telling it off for invading your mind...that was very clever of you!!

There are way too many lines that I adore in this verse...I feel it would be wrong to highlight any in particular..one of your best writes to date Luce and well deserving of the win this week.

Luce has me speechless this week! WOW, just WOW!

I am a sucker for poems about poetry, but this poem here takes the meaning of poetry and writing and goes in depth of just how much poetry and writing can affect a person.

Luce's creative and unique angle of writing takes you on a blood and guts journey of poetry. Nagging and feeding on the soul of the writer, just awesome! I can't give this poem enough praise- Its just magical in my opinion!
