The Guiding Torch

by Chris Swiderski   Mar 24, 2014

Wouldn't it make only sense for you,
to do what's natural and true;
To be, to live an eternity?
Much unlike the rest,
it makes sense to me.

Couldn't it but only satisfy;
The urge to never, ever die?
Cast off this lie, of mortality;
Learn to fly in skies so free.

Shouldn't we pursue,
the conclusion of,
the hopeless hands that sap our love?
This confusion,
setting in like drugs,
means to clip the wings of every dove.

Continue to,
instead of fro,
and never let the anger grow.
Insight timidity,
much like a doe.
Stay humble;
Let your spirit glow.

Don't feed the wolves,
of lust or greed.
Hate begets uncertainty;
They lust for all you could achieve.
With every step,
may you walk in peace.

When the stars,
rain from above;
And wicked man,
speaks silver-tongued;
All creation,
from then henceforth,
Shall bear witness,
to The guiding torch.

    Welcome to Poems and Quotes Chris :-)

    First off I want to say, your poem is breathtaking! Love the flowy rhyme scheme and your word usage is very elegant.

    The message is very insightful! What I love about this poem is it makes the reader think and wonder off a bit... its so in depth.. and I admire that in a poem.

    Truly a delightful read!!
