It's been years...

It's been years
since we last talked,
my dearest lover,
friend, and soul-mate

I hold my breath
as to not speak
God's name in vain,
and I sit down

The stones behind my back
and the withered roses
speak harshly to the losses
of dreams come undone

and I've tried saying farewell;
I've gotten past the letting go
and I've opened my eyes
to the bitter ends

The meek shall inherit the earth,
but they will not keep it:
the crawling of wrath within my skin
forces blasphemy onto my tongue

so I would be lying
if I said that I didn't
want to crush every stone
and scream

But I manage to hold my tongue,
for even though we failed
to seize the days that never came
I still refuse to fall asleep;

Even though I could just explode,
we converse through the bitter silence
and I'm not ready to say goodbye yet,
I'm just not strong enough

We'll meet again, buddy,
so try not to be lonely
in the meanwhile
my soul-mate, my lover, my friend.

    Such sorrow fills this poem. I like the way that you use objects like stones to mean somethimg different. I like this poem. Keep writing.
