At the End of the Day

by Megan   Mar 28, 2014

You cheated and lied,
And I've hated and cried,
But at the end of the day
I still love you.

You broke promises
And found means to your ends.
It all changed who I am, but
I love you.

You're sorry and you regret.
I won't forget the things you said.
I'm not over it yet, but
I love you.

You broke me in half,
Took all that I had.
I am bitter and untrusting, so
Why do I love you?

I love you because you mattered,
And because I saw you for who you were
Before you knew yourself.

In spite of your changes
And life rearranges,
The hurt that you made
Cannot be erased, but
I still love you.

I can wish it away,
Wait around a few more days,
Pretend not to hate,
But at the end of the day

I no longer want to love you.

I like the way you ask yourself the question in this piece "why do I love you" - trying to understand in your own mind why you do. Love for someone is often confusing and makes no sense at all....least of all to yourself!

    All the best,
