Light Touches Her Light touches this girl It touches her Giving her personality an awing glow A glow of hope A ray of sunshine On the cloudiest day Why I wonder Why her? Why the girl with the scars? The scars on her wrist, The slits on her hips The tears in her eyes But the light in her soul Maybe she means something But why believe that when she doesn't? She's just a girl But more Her smile says a thousand words And her lips don't move a bit Her eyes say words Enough to fill a novel The light shines thru, Those emerald eyes Some people quite love those eyes And those who don't, Can't see it, Can't see that light, That light in her eyes. I don't know how they don't, It's so very obvious to me, But then again, I have a mirror, I don't always see that light, Sometimes it's dark, And sometimes it's blank, And lots of times, It's hard to see past those scars. This girl also has scars in her mind, You hear them in her voice, You can hear them. Those scars, They are the worst, It's not the wrists Or the slit hips, It's the scars in her mind that I see, I think them as well, If that's possible. Is she even possible? Is the light even possible, I hope so, I catch a glimpse of her sometimes. In a window, I see her in the mirror, But that's a rare occasion, Unlike those scars Those scars are hers, Hers to keep Hers to hide, With a jacket, With a pair of jeans, But not the scars of her mind, The walls she's built, Have some holes, Unlike those jeans, I wonder if they wonder, Those people with the minds, The minds that aren't scarred Or scared. Some think she's an open book, I think she's an unfinished mystery novel, Or maybe the last chapter is blank, The last page torn out. Maybe the title is incorrect. Maybe the list of Authors doesn't have an end. Is she a dictionary? Fiction? What's her title? What's the genre? Of the light stricken, Scarred girl, The one with emerald eyes And scarred mind, The scared mind? This is the girl, The one the light touches, But doesn't surround.
