A Break Down in the Rhyme

by Gianna Cranston   Mar 29, 2014

Your memory still haunts me even though so much time has passed.
Not a day goes by you don't cross my mind, you're in all the dreams I have.
We said goodbye on a cold winter night, you let me walk out the door.
We fought, we tried, but I had to decide not to let you hurt me anymore.
Seven years I gave you, along with my body, heart and soul.
But the distance, hurt and lies finally took its toll.
No longer did my heart skip whenever our bodies touched.
And time was something you could never give me, your job took too much.
You were my friend, my lover, my rock, I would have given you the world.
But it was clear to see, when you looked at me, you thought I had changed, I wasn't the same girl.
Goodbye was inevitable, it seems it was time... but I can't do this anymore, there's too much emotion to finish this rhyme...

Wow.. This poem is perfect. And I love how you ended...

I just went through a breakup Sunday after the guy I was with cheated on me.. Again..

This poem really hit hard and I honestly almost couldn't finish reading it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, I literally couldn't end the poem because of my tears and emotion. I'm so sorry for what happened. While I wouldn't dare tell you the hurt will go away and to cheer up I will say I hope you find someone who loves and respects you and treats you better, you definitely deserve that.
