What is a poem? A question that has been asked by so many on this site and throughout literary circles. What separates it from prose?
Read this piece and the answer is clear.
Poetry has more of a soul, it has emotion crammed into a few lines. It tugs on your heart strings.
From the clever title that aims to show cancer as nothing more than a word. To the turmoil of emotion that is served in this piece, this is what poetry is. The last line is immense and leaves an important message ringing in all our ears. How as a race we would love to eradicate cancer. It affects too many lives globally. The last stanza is heart breaking and showcases the personal feel of this piece. It is raw but very heartfelt and cleverly written. An easy 10 for me.

Your title is intriguing! Great creativity. You obviously know that it's going to be a sad poem with the word Cancer in the title, but it makes you want to know what's written.

I won't ever pretend to understand what it's like for someone to be there, experiencing this first hand, or to be by the side of a loved one who is experiencing this, and I am sorry for your hardship.

Your words are very powerful. I feel each of them as if I were standing there, in that room. It's almost as if, I could feel that I knew this person, without ever meeting them. You can feel the respect and love you have for him, as well as your pain. It's very sad!

I also enjoyed the finish. You delivered two words at the end that connect so strongly to your title, although they are left on their own. Adding that individual power, for an overall strong finish.

Maple, this poem really is sad and there is a lot you can say with it. Lets start from the top the title.

The title really is great because cancer does have two syllables. And I actually love how you incorporate it into the whole poem not just one or two stanzas. Which to me makes the flow smooth and easy to read because the readers mind does not stray from the topic you write about. Anyways

First stanza- Scribled should be scribbled.
I really enjoyed the imagery of the stanza. This person I can tell you love dearly and you are going through a lotwith them. There is such a strong emotion. Usually when ppeople write it's about what they are feeling. The wording here is great because usually a poem is more than just the words it's from the heart and soul. So the connection between aurias and poetry is true. Aurias are unspoken you just know.

Second stanza- The word honor is strong. It can mean a lot of things. When you truly know what a person is going through you feel the pain they feel everyday. When I think of honor I think of loyally which you seem to be!. By writing this you show how much love you have inside and you both hold strength that no one can match. It's always hard to write about anything that is sorrow filled. Again poem wise you did a great job showing the reader how you are truly feeling without really writing it. You take the positive out of a negative situation.

Third stanza- And hete this is what I mean you write from your heart. It is true that the cancer does not go away fast or maybe not at all. But in each stanza so faryou are so ppositive. And to me that shows the personality of you and the person who struggles with cancer. And that is loyalty and love. And love is something that cannot be broken at all. Whether it be here on earth or spiritually or eternally.

Last stanza- Poetry wise I love how you went back to the beginning and you did wrap the whole poem up well. It shows that you love to write and that you love this person with all your heart. Amyways I loved the last two words. They hit the reader right in the heart. And shows a glimpse of hope that you have. Anyways. I cannot speak more highly of this write. You did a great job overall dear. All my love to you. You are strong. <3

Ahh Andrea! What can I say! This poem wrecked me apart! Cancer is an evil thing, it consumes a persons life and affects everyone around him. But you should never lose faith no matter what!
