Poetic Truth

by Tyrell Harris   Apr 6, 2014

They first called them a poet
Writing beautiful words of poetry
Speaking from the mind and heart
Telling stories about the darkness to the sultry,

Later they called them spoken word artist
Telling you the different views of the world
Preaching their truth, their life, their dreams
To growing up poor to pouring your love to a girl,

I call it poetic truth
Spoken from the reality and insight
A poem like this need to rhyme
But a poetic truth don't, let me guide you to the light

Poetic truth is to be told
Not preached or faded in the pages
Is to make you believe you can
Not can't, to know you can try, not fail
To share and understand
Not feel you should hide or cry

Poetic truth makes you feel proud
Strong, on top of the world
When you're feeling ugly about everything
You smile through the pain
You pour your soul though a pen onto some paper

This is the power of it
No need for rhymes, just only the truth
From you own words, from your own thoughts
From your own pain, from you own heart

So ask yourself this question
Do I want to hear lyrical lies?
