Somnolent.

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 7, 2014

Right now, I would rather be furious,
be the percussion that storms ally with,
be able to prescribe initiative,
than be this damp guise that diverges
between delta waves and miasma.
I imagine whenever my soul exhales,
a North wind claims the bedside
of all the innocent, amiable humans.
And I shake, adding layers upon layers
of memories to keep me warm-
but I hold Winter's detachment
within my marrow,
and I don't know when I'll be ready
to reconcile the past and
surface into Spring.

MaryAnne is very talented and left me sighing a variety of emotions with this poem.
Sorrow of winters depression holds and weighs heavy upon a soul's emotions at times, making them have a heavy heart and scared to open up to "spring".
Adore the nature tones of this very sad piece, and I took a personal look inside my own sadness. Truly and emotional poem for me to read and for others as well. Well done MaryAnne!

Another one I relate to, and feel the rawness if that inner reflection, and how deep the darkness can be sometimes.

I like your wording throughout, I always have an English lesson when reading your work! Which is great because it makes it more fun, and challenging for me.

There is so much I love about this, the weather metaphors, the comparison to what you feel and what you would rather feel, I adore the line of wrapping up in layers of memories... This was very unique!

Congratulations on your win, poem is awesome !!
