The Face in the Water

by Bryan   Apr 14, 2014

So serene is the blackened water,
Nobody would imagine what lied in its obsidian grasp,
Of all the lesser hearts; people falter,
Before bearing witness to the visage of a desperate gasp.

This can definitely be interpreted in a lot of ways and that's what I love about poetry. I think the title fits perfectly. I'm not sure if this is your first poem ever or not but if it is, it's really pretty good. You always want your title to fit your poem and I think it does here. :) here I think you are talking about depression and how a person see's themselves in a reflection or mirror. The "blackened water" could be a metaphor for sadness. They are trying to grasp onto who they really are. Anyway this poem is really good and it says a lot in such a short message :). Well done
