What Matters To Me

by Jason   Apr 16, 2014

In the beginning,
We had an undeniable spark,
Passion fueled by sex and lust,
As we grew forward,
It became time to trust,
We lost ourselves in each other,

You can throw your stones,
We will never break away,
We are bound by a special fire,
An infatuation that will never tire,
With an outstretched hand,
I will follow her till the end,

We were inseparable,
Reckless and free,
Luminous skies washed away the grim,
As I got down on one knee,
Knowing that I would always be there,
She said she would die to preserve our love,

Watching her walk down the aisle,
There was no happier moment,
Gazing into her eyes,
I saw beauty...I saw hope,
In this world swallowed by greed,
She is all that I need,

She keeps me strong,
Through the light and the dark,
After all these years,
We still have that spark,
Some nights I ponder,
How did I get so lucky?

After 60 years of marriage,
I still call her my best friend,
If I could go back in time,
I would not change a thing,
She is my legacy,
And that's...what matters to me
