Joy In Their Kingdom

by Meena Krish   Apr 23, 2014

Rain pelts on smooth windows of brown eyes
aches freed from the folds of a crumpled heart,
on the wings of woe pinched thoughts depart
not wishing to turn around to say goodbye,

Moments fly aimlessly with wandering dreams
discarding cruelty's face that taunts the mind,
despair's name flutters whirling like a wind
eased by hope's candle throwing its beam,

Unfulfilled day rests its head in night's arms
forgetting the bold chill of an emptiness in life,
pen and paper romance like husband and wife
painting a warm smile as their union spin a storm,

inked blue lines create a funnel of freedom
in bottled wishes my world effortlessly blends,
they go far, upon a fictional throne I ascend;
wealth of words, jewels of joy fill my kingdom.

    In your poem, you confirm the escape and haven a poet has in creative writing and poetry. How the words 'a joy in their kingdom' raise one above the mundane and daily stresses, to a special realm. Marvelously expressed here.
